CORE IMPACT Also Named a "Best of 2007"
and a Reader’s Trust Finalist for Best
Solution in the 2008 SC Magazine Awards Program
BOSTON - December 17, 2007 - Core Security Technologies today announced that it has been named as an SC Magazine Innovator of the Year for its flagship product, CORE IMPACT, the most comprehensive product for performing enterprise security assurance testing. CORE IMPACT also earned distinction as a “Best of 2007” product in the Vulnerability Assessment category, as well as recognition in the 2008 SC Magazine Awards program for outstanding achievement in information technology (IT) security by being named a finalist in the Reader Trust Award for Best Audit/Vulnerability Assessment Solution.
In the December 2007 issue of SC Magazine, Technology Editor Peter Stephenson wrote, “We have used [CORE] IMPACT in SC Labs for two years and have found nothing else that even comes close, open source or commercial, for application as a production quality penetration tool.”
Explaining what makes CORE IMPACT innovative, Stephenson wrote, “In the case of [CORE] IMPACT, it's the vision of the people behind it. Core Security has a dedicated team of threat and vulnerability engineers who look to the present and the future to ensure that the product not only addresses today's vulnerabilities, but also looks ahead to the evolving threat environment.”
From all the products it evaluated during 2007, the magazine selected just 18 SC Magazine Innovators based on importance in the security landscape, comprehensiveness, ongoing product value and innovation. The first of SC Magazine's yearly Look Ahead section honors SC Magazine Innovators and covers access control, analysis and testing, perimeter defense, data protection, and security infrastructure tools. The publication looked to help readers answer the question, "If we are going to buy security tools in the next 12 to 18 months, what should we be looking at?"
CORE IMPACT was also featured in the December issue as a “Best of 2007” product in the Vulnerability Assessment category, where it was the only product to earn the distinction of “Lab Approved.” According to the SC Labs team, this particular honor “is bestowed to extraordinary standouts that fit into the SC Lab environment, and which will be used subsequently in our test bench for the coming year.”
Also named as a finalist in the SC Magazine Awards program in the Reader Trust Award for Best Audit/Vulnerability Assessment Solution, CORE IMPACT was among more than 600 entries submitted in more than 30 technology categories. Finalists of the SC Magazine Awards program are determined through voting conducted by the publication’s readers. Readers vote for what they view as the solution that is most effective at helping them to address the problems for which it was designed.
“Finalists in this year’s SC Magazine awards, including Core Security, represent a cross section of the security industry’s best in class,” said SC Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Illena Armstrong. “Our readers recognize that these companies are making today’s businesses more secure.”
The annual SC Magazine Awards have recognized security’s key contributors and outstanding products for more than a decade. As the industry’s preeminent award program, individuals, brands and products shortlisted address not only the challenges prominent today, but also the emerging threat landscape of tomorrow.
Winners will be announced at an exclusive awards event to be held in San Francisco on April 8, 2008.
“To simultaneously be recognized as an SC Magazine Innovator of the Year and to be a finalist in a crucial category such as Best Audit/Vulnerability Assessment Solution, it is a testament to the fact that penetration testing technology is no longer a fad or ‘nice-to-have’ – it is a very real, measurable and important tool for organizations to have in their arsenal in the ongoing battle to protect a company’s information assets,” said Ivan Arce’, CTO of Core Security Technologies. “At Core Security, we take great pride in knowing that members of the SC Magazine editorial staff and its readers recognize the immediate value that security practitioners can derive through the use of CORE IMPACT.”
